Ķīpsala
In Kipsala, there are striking contradictions between new and old architecture, – fragmentary development, where exclusive renovated projects alternate with abandoned wooden houses and unkempt areas, which gives this area a unique and original charm.
During a two-hour hike, we will enjoy such a different architecture, a beautiful panorama of the river Daugava and street art, and I will tell scary stories from the past about events that are both real and urban legends.
The meeting point is at the entrance to the shopping centre “Olimpia”.
There are no special requirements for clothing. An umbrella or raincoat, spare shoes or socks may come in handy, – we will walk along paths with different surfaces. Some areas may contain slippery stones and dirt.
Take your picnic snacks and drinks with you (the Olimpia shopping centre will be available at the beginning and end of the hike). Binoculars may come in handy, – you will be able to watch birds, ships and the panorama of Riga in the vicinity.
